OUTDOOR KITCHEN COUNTERTOPS AND CABINETS FAQS

Outdoor Kitchen Countertop FAQS

Granite Countertops: are the number one choice; Granite has lasted millions of years outside, so it will hold up very well, and you can seal granite countertops if you like, but it really doesn’t need to be sealed, and it’s not easy to stain granite.

Concrete Countertops: work very well outside and they give you unlimited choices for colors, but they don’t wear as well as the Granite countertops, and the concrete can fade with a lot of direct sunlight, so stay with lighter colors and they’ll stay cooler too.

Marble Countertops: are beautiful and very durable for outside use, and can take anything Mother Nature has to offer, and is very easy to clean and maintain, just like the granite.

Tile Countertops: can work well and their very affordable, but we don’t like the grout lines that are a constant maintenance issue, and clean up is more of a chore because the grout lines will hold food and dirt in them.
Corian Countertops: Don’t work well outside, they fade and stain and are just not intended for outdoor use.

Stainless Steel Cabinets: are non-corrosive, and they look great with stainless steel outdoor Kitchen appliances and gas grills, and they are hands down the easiest to maintain outdoors.

Wood Cabinets: wood cabinets are beautiful in Outdoor kitchens, just make sure the wood is treated and finished correctly, and use woods that are used on boats like teak, and make sure their finished with oil or water repellent sealers, and keep resealing them every year, and they’ll give you years of service.

Polymer Cabinets: Is a synthetic material like plastic, and will not rot when exposed to the elements outside over long periods of time. Polymer cabinets don’t come in very many colors, and if you’re looking for Green products for your Outdoor kitchen, these cabinets are made from petrochemicals that would make any environmentalist wince, but they’re a good choice as far as standing up to the elements is concerned.
